I recall many times as a little kid spending time walking along streams, ponds and lakes. Whether I was swimming, going for a walk, fishing, or playing some imaginary game, I always loved seeing the wildlife-and one of the most fun to watch were the water striders. They are called several different names, 'water striders', 'pondskaters', 'waterskeeters', names of that sort, and the names are very apt for a creature that moves such a way. By evenly distributing their weight on the waters' surface, they actually run along the water-it's really very whimsical and entertaining if you get the chance to see them in real life. Naturally, I had to make a design to show this, with simple ripple effects emanating from their legs.
